Christina Crue leads Tidal Basin’s Preparedness Practice as Assistant Vice President, Resiliency - Preparedness and Mitigation Programs. Christina has long focused on enhancing the capabilities of business and governments to prepare for, respond to, mitigate against, and recover from all types of hazards. Areas of strong expertise include the development and delivery of exercises, training courses, and other experiential learning opportunities, as well as advising clients on improvement and strategic planning at all levels of government and private sectors.
Christina has led projects ranging from supporting national-level emergency response operations to developing and evaluating the most realistic and complex exercises. A highly experienced educator, Christina has presented countless preparedness courses and exercises worldwide.
Prior to Tidal Basin, Christina led preparedness programs at Witt O’Brien’s, serving public and private sector clients in planning, training, exercising, and programmatic development projects. She has also served as Exercise Director for the University of Maryland Center for Health and Homeland Security (CHHS), managing a team of eight and developing and delivering discussion-and operations-based exercises. In addition, she managed training programs for a variety of states. For the US State Department, she provided crisis management training to senior managers in more than 14 countries.
Ms. Crue served as Branch Manager for the Exercise and Training Branch of the Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA). Her duties included the coordination and development of statewide exercise and training strategy, training programs, and exercises. In addition, she chaired the Maryland Exercise and Training Integration Committee and was Maryland’s representative to the National Capital Region Exercise and Training Oversight Panel from March 2006 to June 2009.
Ms. Crue has worked to strengthen Maryland’s Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) by teaching HSEEP courses throughout the state. She led efforts to update all Job Action Sheets at the State Emergency Operations Center and provided training and exercises to all staff. Ms. Crue came to MEMA from the Battelle Memorial Institute, where she worked closely with local, state and federal partners on exercising and training activities for three years.
Ms. Crue holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Hood College in Frederick Maryland and a Master of Science degree in Emergency Health Services, Emergency Management from University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Ms. Crue is also a Certified Emergency Manager through the International Association of Emergency Managers; a Master Exercise Practitioner; certified through the Emergency Management Institute in Emmitsburg; and a certified Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) Trainer.
Christina is a proud mom of identical twin girls and finds herself frequently on soccer fields, basketball courts, and poolside cheering them on.
