My name is Aileen Aponte Colon, Complaints Manager for the CDBG-DR SBF and ReGrow programs in Puerto Rico. I began with the company almost 4 years ago in the recovery efforts of Hurricanes Irma and María. Since then, I have grown to love this type of work and the company’s efforts to assist those most affected by these disasters. I am truly thankful for the growth opportunities and experience that Tidal Basin has offered me, along with all the great friends made along the way.

I started working with Tidal Basin for the COVID-19 vaccine project and immediately felt welcomed into the company. Being able to help others front-line during a pandemic was such a great opportunity that never went unnoticed by Tidal Basin. After the project was over, I was offered a position as a College and Career Recruiter where I now have the excitement of helping recent college grads step into their first career role. Tidal Basin has always been great about work-life balance and encouraging career progression for all employees in every position offered.

After leaving FEMA, I had choices where I would work next. What was important to me was working for an organization with strong moral values, one that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion as part of its corporate culture, but also placed importance on work-life balance and family. After meeting with several private and government organizations, it was clear to our family that Tidal Basin is where I should work, and we are thankful that we made that decision.
