Earlier this month, Tidal Basin’s Jose Valenzuela, Ian Carlo Serna, Amber Madden, and Daina Ruback organized support for the Santas Pascuas, Puerto Rico, community, which was still experiencing power and water outages in the wake of Hurricane Fiona.

Using a blend of private donations and Tidal Basin direct contributions, the Tidal Basin volunteer team and friends purchased food, milk, diapers, wipes, socks, underwear, headlamps, lanterns, and batteries for the residents of Santas Pascuas.

“With the generous donations we received, we were prepared with supplies for the 70 families in this community. We also provided a monetary donation to assist the community with other needs,” said Daina.

On October 7th, the volunteer group met with a community leader to drop off the supplies and donations to approximately a dozen homes and left additional supplies and funds with the community leader for distribution to homes not easily accessible by car.

“We’d like to thank Tidal Basin for supporting us in this work. It really is so meaningful, and we were so grateful to have the opportunity to go out and directly support this community in its recovery,” said Daina.
