Project Manager, Preparedness

Speaker: Kymmie Scott | Project Manager | Tidal Basin Group

Description: Emergency management offices are stretched thin, and sometimes the best way to get the job done is to bring in outside help. But when is the right time to hire a consultant, how do you make sure you’re getting value, and what can you do to set the stage for a successful partnership? This session walks through contracting vehicles, proposal pitfalls, project risks, and closeout strategies — with plenty of practical tips (and a few laughs) from the consultant’s side of the table.

At Tidal Basin, we work with emergency management professionals and public safety leaders to support community preparedness, disaster response, and recovery. We recognize the challenges specific to New Mexico, including wildfires, floods, and the coordination needed across state, local, tribal, and private partners. Our team is focused on building resilience with practical solutions that meet the needs of communities.

We collaborate directly with government agencies, healthcare organizations, and tribal communities to strengthen preparedness and streamline recovery. With proven experience in federal grants, mitigation planning, and recovery operations, we align our strategies with your goals to help safeguard infrastructure and protect the people you serve. By partnering with Tidal Basin, you gain a trusted resource dedicated to advancing emergency management in New Mexico.

Its goal is to promote best practices, strengthen response and recovery efforts, and build resilience for communities across New Mexico. The event focuses on knowledge sharing, professional development, and fostering meaningful partnerships.

The agenda includes keynote presentations, panel discussions, and breakout tracks focused on emerging threats, recovery operations, planning tools, and coordination strategies. Project Manager Kymmie Scott’s session “Consultant or Cult Leader?” is a must attend.

The symposium is designed for emergency management professionals, public safety officials, healthcare leaders, tribal representatives, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and private sector partners involved in preparedness, response, recovery, or resilience efforts.
