About the IAEM Annual Conference and EMEX

Over the course of two days, attendees engage in discussions on a wide range of topics, covering the latest best practices, lessons learned, and recent incidents. Hazard Mitigation Specialist

The Hazard Mitigation Specialist at Tidal Basin is a temporary position based in Anchorage, AK, designed to support the implementation of Hazard Mitigation (HM) Programs. The main objective is to aid clients in administering FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) Grant Program, optimizing business operations to meet client and Business Unit goals.

Key responsibilities include coordinating the flow of HMA funding and disaster-related information, acting as a liaison for FEMA grant programs, and managing projects under the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program as outlined in the Stafford Act. The role requires developing and reviewing mitigation plans and working closely with other FEMA programs.

Emergency Management Specialist

As an Emergency Management Specialist, you will operate at Emergency Operations Centers, ensuring efficient operations by monitoring debris loading and hauling activities. Your duties include conducting site inspections, documenting damages, determining repair scopes, and providing accurate cost estimates. Furthermore, you will develop federal grant applications, specifically FEMA Project Worksheets, across various work categories, ensuring compliance with Public Assistance criteria while offering quality assurance on damage descriptions and cost estimations.

In addition to technical guidance on FEMA’s Grants Portal, you will deliver programmatic assistance, conduct comprehensive program reviews, and analyze projects. Your role involves collecting and summarizing financial data, formulating projects, and managing documentation. You will also prepare Public Assistance procedures, review payment requests, and facilitate project closeouts. Completing required training is essential, ensuring you are prepared to effectively meet all project demands and support the overall mission.
