CDBG-DR/MIT
Tidal Basin’s comprehensive understanding of disaster recovery programs, along with hands-on experience gained during some of the worst disasters in U.S. history, provides us with the skills to assist our clients in reaching their recovery goals. Our team has the knowledge and expertise with HUD’s Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program and has led numerous large scale CDBG-DR funded programs throughout the country.
We are experienced in providing services through each stage – Unmet Needs Assessment, Action Plan and Program Design, Recovery Program Implementation, and Grant Closeout. We have also assisted numerous grantees with compliance and monitoring of programs and sub recipients to ensure program integrity.
HUD’s Community Development Block Grant-Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) program defines mitigation as activities that increase resilience to disasters and reduce or eliminate the long-term risk of loss of life, injury, damage to and loss of property, and suffering and hardship by lessening the impact of future disasters. CDBG-MIT activities should align with other federal programs that address hazard mitigation to create a more cohesive effort at the federal, state, and local level. These mitigation projects will aim to reduce the risk to community services that benefit human health and safety or economic security, from being severely affected by natural disasters.
The disaster recovery process is complex and requires expert guidance to ensure grantees comply with all federal requirements and design programs to maximize their funding, resulting in the greatest benefit to the grantee. Tidal Basin has supported CDBG-DR grantees through all phases of the recovery cycle. From a high level, this is what HUD grantees should expect from CDBG-DR Allocation to Grant Closeout.
