FEMA Sheltering and Temporary Essential Power (STEP)
In September 2017, Hurricanes Irma and Maria caused catastrophic and widespread damage to the island of Puerto Rico. Hurricane Maria, a Category 5 storm with 150 mph winds, struck just two weeks after Hurricane Irma and left Puerto Rico with a 100% power outage, nearly 100% loss of telecommunications, and severe damage to the island’s infrastructure. Tens of thousands of homes were damaged or destroyed, creating an immediate need for shelter.
Case Management Services for Economic Development Recovery Program
Tidal Basin provides case management services for the $800 million CDBG-DR-funded economic recovery program portfolio in Puerto Rico. Case management services include intake, eligibility, HUD income verification, award coordination, and closeout services. Case managers provide technical assistance to applicants for the CDBG-DR Economic Recovery Programs and other initiatives within the Puerto Rico CDBG Disaster Recovery Action Plan and assist with application completion in both English and Spanish.
